2013 The legendary Lotus Esprit

The legendary Lotus Esprit already has replacement, the new model will be ready in 2013 and prices start at 130,000 euros. This is the first of the new models that Lotus prepares to see the light since Dany Bahar took over the British firm.
The new Lotus Esprit, which was just shown to reporters at the Paris Motor Show, has been chosen as the spearhead of the new range Lotus known for its world-renowned and that perfectly represents the trend followed by the brand in the future.

Powered by a supercharged 5.0-liter V8, Lexus of origin, will deliver between 550 and 620 hp (R version) to 8,000 laps. He will be coupled to a gearbox with seven gears with a set of paddles on the steering wheel and will be similar to the KERS system (energy recovery system) developed by the brand. Will be able to go from 0 to 100 km / h in under 3.5 seconds and CO2 emissions pledges of only 250 g / km (a low figure for such a powerful engine).

The empty vehicle weight amounts to 1495 kg., It is very light to say, but it is enough to compete with other vehicles in its own segment and its powerful engine to get close to 330 km / h.

The new CEO of Lotus Dany Bahar and former Ferrari chief designer Donato Coco worked day and night to develop five cars (three mid-engined sports cars and two motors in forward position) linking the tradition of Lotus the new corporate design.

Chief designer beauty justifies the change by saying: "Even cheaper cars than ours have more elaborate designs front than traditional Lotus", also says Coco, "There was time to find something more suitable to the times ". According to Donato Coco, new models of the British firm enjoy a stronger and more dynamic appearance.

Plans annual production of the brand are around 2,700 vehicles less than 45,000 euros (Elise) and between 6000 and 7,000 cars costing between 100,000 and 140,000 euros (Esprit, Elite, eternal).
