2011 Nissan LEAF

Nissan Motor Co., Ltd. today introduced a formal system of electricity supply to the home network by lithium-ion batteries installed on the Nissan LEAF known program in the context of the Japanese aimed at achieving a company's emission zero. The presentation was held in the "Kan-kan-kyo" * 1, a residence built by Sekisui House Ltd. in front of the Nissan headquarters in Yokohama. The automaker will continue to develop and study how to adapt and fully connect the system to current power network. Nissan plans to commercialize the system within the current fiscal year, through the support of a number of partners interested in its development and distribution.

This system allows you to power a house with the energy stored in lithium-ion batteries high capacity present on the Nissan LEAF, through a direct connection with the distribution made by the connector plugged in to recharge the rapid car. The connector, highly versatile, safe and reliable complies with the Association for CHAdeMO rapid chargers, which was adopted at the global level.

With this system, lithium-ion batteries Nissan LEAF function as storage batteries for dwellings in case of blackouts or energy crises: with a capacity of 24kWh, a lithium-ion battery is capable of powering a house * 2 for about two days.

The next step will be the stable supply of electricity to homes and reducing peak electricity demand, by charging Nissan LEAF during the night or through renewable sources, like solar energy for later use during the day in which demand is greatest.

In addition to providing electricity, this system also allows you to recharge the car. The current owners of Nissan LEAF will also be able to use this system * 3.
